ABOUT MARY GANICH
ABOUT ME
I was born and raised in metro Detroit, Michigan. I grew up playing volleyball, watching collegiate basketball, and reading every night before bed. I also love to camp, hike, cook, and travel.
While attending Michigan State University, I met my husband, Matt. After we graduated, we moved to West Michigan. We have a labrador retriever named Wilson, in honor of Wilson hall. Together, we like to visit the national parks together during our summers.
MY EDUCATION
I graduated from Michigan State University in 2015 and majored in elementary education with endorsements with language arts and TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). I was involved in organizations such as Students Today, Leaders Forever, Tomorrow's Educators for the Advancement of Multiculturalism, and Mortar Board. Through these organizations, I fostered a passion for youth leadership development.
In May of 2020, I graduated with a Master of Arts in Education degree from Michigan State University with a focus in literacy.
MY TEACHING
I am now a fourth-grade teacher at Ryan Intermediate, which is a school in Richland, Michigan. My school is a "Leader in Me" school that promotes the 7 habits by Sean Covey. The Leader in Me program empowers students with the leadership and life skills they need to thrive in the 21st century.
In the classroom, I encourage students to develop a love of literacy and believe in the power of developing a strong sense of community. My personal mission is to empower students with the leadership skills and knowledge to become agents of positive change.
